Visit to GFCS Vatva

Students of second year BCom (Honours) visited Green Field Co-operative Society (GFCS), Vatva on Sep 20, 2019. GFCS is an industrial effluent treatment plant wherein 35 million tonne litres of polluted water is treated every day. Around 1000 Ahmedabad based industries discharge its effluents every day in this treatment plant. The entire process of treatment of the polluted water was observed and understood by the students.

Visit to Mandu

Second year students of Institute of Architecture and Planning got the opportunity to visit Mandu, Madhya Pradesh as a part of their studio programme during Sep 19-22, 2019. A total of 40 students were accompanied by three faculty members. The aim of the visit was to understand the various methods of construction of domes and also to understand the use of pendentives and squinches in the transformation upon which domes are built. The understanding of the mass to void ratio as well as the spacial organisation of such structures was emphasised upon by the faculty members.

Visit to Savli Biotech Park

MSc semester-III students of Institute of Science went for an industrial visit to Savli Biotech Park, Vadodara on Sep 20, 2019. The visit started with an introductory presentation followed by visit to common instrumentation facility. Students and faculty members also interacted at various labs, including the IRIS Nanotech lab which is developing antibody dependent kit for detection of malaria, dengue and chikungunya; REVY Environmental Solutions dealing with waste water treatment plans; and INTELLIMAT Technologies working on bioremediation and biodegradation.

Social Activity

NSS Unit Camp

The NSS volunteers of Institute of Commerce visited its adopted village ? Kavitha on Sep 1, 2019. The volunteers interacted with the villagers and school kids. The school students were imparted basic computer knowledge, including parts of computer, typing, shortcut keys, Microsoft office software, etc.

The volunteers also conducted various stretching exercises and yoga to promote ?Fit India? Campaign initiated by the Government of India. Various sports activities including competitions of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Table Tennis and Volleyball were conducted for the kids.
