Extension Activities

Visit to Old Age Home 

The NSS volunteers and Social Committee Club members of the Institute of Commerce visited Hiramani Old Age Home, Ahmedabad on Nov 22, 2021. The students spent quality time with the inmates and brought a smile on their faces. The students had conversations with them over snacks and enjoyed Garba together. They also distributed some medicines for daily use.

Visit to Sabarmati Jail    

The Legal Aid Clinic, Institute of Law, Nirma University celebrated ?Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav? from Nov 10-14, 2021. The faculty members and students visited Central Jail, Sabarmati, Ahmedabad and provided Legal Awareness to the under trial and convicted prisoners (male and female) about their different legal rights. The team resolved the queries of the prisoners on legal matters. Mr D L Patel, Clinical Professor, Retired Principal District Judge provided a brief explanation about provisions of bail and their possibilities to under trial and convicted prisoners.  The Institute of Law faculty and students team also performed a play on the theme ?Issues and challenges faced by the family members of prisoners?.

Legal Awareness Campaign             

The NSS wing of the Institute of Law visited the panchayat office of the Valad village on Nov 12, 2021 and conducted a legal aid and legal awareness campaign. The village Sarpanch Mr Pankaj Vyas and Talati Mr Jayesh informed the villagers to attend this event and made the necessary arrangements. During the camp, the Institute of Law team talked about the issues such as Access to justice, Availability of Legal Aid to people, the procedure of legal aid, and also Digital Literacy, Health, Hygiene, and Sanitation. The session concluded with a question and answer round. The team also conducted this drive at the canteen of Nirma University on the same day. The Canteen Manager Mr Jeetubhai made the necessary arrangements in relation to arranging the mess staff for the awareness programme.
