EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

NSS Day

On Sep 24, 2021 the NSS day was celebrated by the NSS unit of the Institute of Commerce, Nirma University. On this occasion, Prof Udai Lal Paliwal, Director; Dr Ashutosh Pandey, NSS Officer; faculty members of Institute of Commerce; and the NSS volunteers took the pledge to continue working with dedication in the service of the nation. A total of about 35 NSS volunteers were present in the pledge-taking ceremony.

The NSS unit of the Institute of Law also organised an oath-taking ceremony for the faculty members and the NSS volunteers. The event started with a pledge where the volunteers vowed to work with dedication to serve and strengthen the freedom and integrity of the nation. The pledge was presided over by Mr Akshat Jain, Chairperson, NSS Unit, ILNU. Following this, shlokas derived from Upanishads were recited by the Core members of the NSS unit.

Swachhta Campaign

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India organised the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan from Oct 1-31, 2021 under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.  The NSS unit, Nirma University appealed its community members to join the Swachhta Campaign from Oct 22-31, 2021. Students of Nirma University voluntarily joined in this campaign by cleaning the campus, their home as well as the area around their home. All the participants were honoured by e-certificate.

Blood Donation Camp  

The NSS unit of Institute of Law conducted a blood donation camp in collaboration with Prathama Blood Centre on Oct 20, 2021 in the Nirma University campus as a part of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. Nirma University students, faculty members, and staff members collectively donated 251 units of blood. 40 NSS volunteers worked tirelessly for making this event successful.

Other Activities

  • The NSS group at Nirma University along with the Students Welfare Board created an awareness on the Andh Kanya Prakash Gruh Talim Kendra?s Diya making initiative. The kendra makes diyas for the Diwali festival every year, the sale of which helps them financially. Students, faculty, and staff actively engaged in purchasing diyas made by them and contributed to this noble cause.
  • On the occasion of the Foundation Day of the Institute of Technology on Oct 3, 2021, the Organisation of Civil Engineering Students (OrCES) arranged various societal activities. Students distributed food kits containing cooking oil, food grains including rice and wheat flour to 51 labourers residing in the labour colony of Nirma University. Also, brunch was arranged for around 30 children residing at the labour colony followed by some games.
  • ISA Students? Chapter organised a meet-up session for the specially-abled students of Prakash School, Ahmedabad on Oct 28, 2021. The club members interacted with the students and distributed cookie boxes as a Diwali gift.
