Stem Cells Donation by Faculty Member

Dr Shital Panchal, faculty member at the Institute of Pharmacy has successfully donated stem cells to save the life of a four-year-old thalassemia patient. Dr Panchal, who registered as a potential stem cell donor during a 2012 awareness session organised by Nirma University in collaboration with DATRI Foundation, was recently identified as a match for a four-year-old thalassemia patient and on September 23, 2025 she successfully donated her stem cells, giving the child a new lease on life. This noble act highlights the profound impact of awareness initiatives. The collaboration between Nirma University and DATRI Foundation has not only inspired individuals to register as potential donors but also demonstrated the transformative role of academic institutions in building a compassionate and healthier society.

Blood Donation Drive

A Blood Donation Drive was organised on August 1, 2025 by the NSS Unit, School of Engineering, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society and The Kalupur Commercial Co-operative Bank Ltd, under the aegis of the Students’ Welfare Board, Nirma University. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, and staff, resulting in the collection of 297 units of blood.

 

Cleanliness Drive         

The NSS Unit of the Institute of Pharmacy conducted a Cleanliness Drive at Charodi Lake on August 14, 2025. The initiative reflected the institute’s commitment to social responsibility and the spirit of service.

The NSS Unit of the Institute of Management organised a Cleanliness Drive at the Charodi Lake Periphery and in the vicinity of the Nirma University campus on October 2, 2025 as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission. During the drive, volunteers collected over 60 kilograms of dry waste, including plastic bottles, wrappers, covers, tetra packs, and other discarded materials.

Tree Plantation Drive

As part of the university’s extension and outreach initiatives, the Institute of Science organised a Tree Plantation Drive on campus on September 5, 2025. The programme aimed to promote environmental awareness among students and contribute to the creation of a greener, healthier, and more sustainable campus environment.

The NSS Unit of the Institute of Pharmacy organised a Plants Distribution and Tree Plantation Drive on October 9, 2025 to promote environmental awareness and encourage a spirit of sustainability among students and staff.

 

Visit to Chinmay Residential and Day-Care Institute

Twenty-five volunteers from the Institute of Management visited the Chinmay Residential and Day-Care Institute for neurologically divergent children on September 4, 2025. The volunteers engaged more than fifty children through interactive games, dance performances, and lively mascots, which helped create a cheerful and inclusive environment. The visit also included a campus tour, snacks and stationary distribution.

Shramdaan by NCC cadets
The NCC Unit of Nirma University, affiliated with the 9-Gujarat NCC Battalion and 1-Gujarat (Girls) Battalion, NCC Ahmedabad Group, Gujarat Directorate, organised a Shramdaan on September 20, 2025 as part of the Swachh Bharat Mission and Swachhata Pakhwada (September 17-October 2, 2025), commemorating the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Aligned with the theme ‘Swachhotsav – One Day, One Hour, Together: One Step Towards Cleanliness’, 60 NCC cadets participated in a cleanliness drive at the Tragad Lake periphery near the university, contributing 120 man-hours towards promoting environmental responsibility and community service.

Community Outreach at Naj village

The NSS Unit of the Institute of Commerce organised a one-day community outreach programme at Naj village on September 20, 2025. The initiative focused on promoting social awareness and holistic development through financial literacy, scholarship awareness, career guidance, and creative activities for children. Around 50 NSS volunteers actively participated, working to empower women, guide students, and encourage self-expression among children.

Community Outreach at SGVP School

As part of its community outreach initiatives, the NSS Unit of the Institute of Pharmacy performed a skit titled ‘Drug Abuse and Its Effects’ on September 23, 2025 at SGVP School, Ahmedabad. The performance aimed to spread awareness about the dangers of substance abuse among youth and to encourage healthier, addiction-free lifestyles.

NSS Residential Camp at Naj village

The NSS Unit of the Institute of Commerce organised a residential camp at Naj village from December 13-19, 2025 with the objective of fostering social responsibility and strengthening community participation among volunteers. The camp was designed to provide students with practical exposure to community service while addressing key social, environmental, educational, and health-related concerns of the village.

 

 

NSS Residential Camp at Vijapur

The NSS Unit of the Institute of Pharmacy organised a residential camp at Vijapur from December 1-7, 2025 blending service, learning and community engagement. Volunteers initiated cleanliness drive, tree plantation and waste management awareness, while interacting with villagers through sessions on health, education, women empowerment and organic farming. Activities included Prabhat Feri, school workshops, Best Out of Waste projects, elderly engagement, Panjrapole seva and a rally on drug addiction awareness. Health and hygiene were promoted through a medical check-up camp and menstrual hygiene awareness sessions.

Supporting Visually Impaired Women

In the true spirit of Diwali and social responsibility, the NSS Unit of Nirma University took a meaningful initiative to empower visually impaired women by promoting the purchase of handmade diyas within the university community on October 10, 2025. The proceeds from the sale of these diyas, crafted at the Andh Kanya Prakash Gruh Talim Kendra (Training Centre for Visually Impaired Women), directly support the artisans, providing them with a sustainable source of livelihood and fostering self-reliance.

Clothes Donation Drive 

The NSS Unit of the Institute of Pharmacy organised a Clothes Donation Drive on October 16, 2025 across the nearby areas of the Nirma University campus.

 

 

 

 

Free Legal Assistance

The Legal Aid Clinic at the Institute of Law, in collaboration with the District Legal Services Authority, provided free legal assistance to individuals in need on October 4, 2025 at the university campus.

Legal Awareness Outreach

The Legal Aid Committee, along with Centre for Child Rights Advocacy at the Institute of Law, organised a legal awareness and outreach visit to Lekawada village and Sri Chaitanya School on October 8, 2025. The visit aimed to spread awareness on mediclaim, domestic violence, substance abuse, cybercrime, and workplace sexual harassment. Surveys were conducted and pamphlets were distributed to ensure continued access to legal guidance.

Tarang 3.0

The NSS Unit of the School of Engineering, in collaboration with the Nirma Valley Movement (NVM), organised Tarang 3.0 from October 10-12, 2025 with the aim of fostering social awareness, creativity, and team spirit among students. The programme was conducted under the NSS initiative ‘Panch Prakalp’ and focused on themes such as Women Empowerment, Child Education, Water Conservation, Cultural Pride, Unity in Diversity, and Aatmanirbhar Bharat. Over 150 students enthusiastically participated in a range of activities, including the ‘Quest for Cause’ Treasure Hunt, Heritage Walk, and Photography Competition. The concluding day featured an outreach activity at Miroli village, where 58 NSS and NVM volunteers celebrated pre-Diwali festivities with local children, making the event both meaningful and impactful.

Diwali Outreach             

The NSS Unit of the Institute of Law celebrated Diwali with the children of Rampura Primary School on October 14, 2025 through a heart-warming event titled ‘Roshni’. During the event, the volunteers conducted engaging activities such as lantern making, collage making, and Diwali card making, allowing the children to express their creativity. The school premises was beautifully decorated with handmade decorative items crafted by the volunteers and children. Adding to the festive spirit, the volunteers performed a skit explaining the significance of Diwali, which was both educational and entertaining for the young audience. The celebration concluded with the distribution of stationery kits and chocolates, filling the day with smiles and excitement.

The Electronics and Communication Students’ Organization (ECO), Institute of Technology, distributed sweets to the support staff of Nirma University on October 17, 2025 on the occasion of the Diwali festival, as a gesture of appreciation and festive goodwill.

Social Outreach

Students of the Institute of Management came together to spend the day at Jeevan Sandhya Old Age Home with around 130 elderly residents, celebrating the profound values of respect, empathy, and intergenerational connection. The day was filled with engaging interactions, joyful performances, lively games like Cricket, Ball in a Basket, and Musical Chair, along with heartfelt conversations that reaffirmed the residents’ dignity and worth.

Visit to Old Age Home 

The NSS team from the Institute of Management visited Jivandhara Vrudhashram on November 14, 2025. The initiative aimed to spend meaningful time with the 150 elderly residents and foster genuine connections through interaction, activities, and shared experiences.

 

 

Udaan 2025

Spandan, the Social Club of the Institute of Management organised Udaan 2025 on November 22, 2025 as an initiative to inspire young minds and spread joy among children from underprivileged backgrounds. As part of the event, over 50 children from Humankind NGO spent a day at the Nirma University campus, filled with learning through play and creative expression. Children participated in activities such as relay race, kho-kho, musical statues, colouring, stone painting, and keychain-making.

 

Children’s Day

On the occasion of Children’s Day, the NSS Unit of the Institute of Law visited Muskaan NGO on November 14, 2025. The day was filled with activities like science experiments, performing skit, and sessions on life skills, among others.
