Thalassemia Awareness Camp
Nirma Institute of Pharmacy Association (NIPSA), in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, Ahmedabad, organised a Thalassemia Awareness Camp at the Institute of Pharmacy from Sep 23 to 25, 2024 to raise awareness, conduct screenings, and support individuals impacted by this hereditary blood disorder.
Waste to Art Competition
The NSS Unit of the Institute of Commerce organised a ‘Waste to Art’ competition as part of the ‘Swachhta Hi Sewa’ initiative on Sep 30, 2024. The event drew enthusiastic participation from students, who skillfully transformed waste materials into impressive art pieces. Participants used various waste and recycled items, including CDs, candy sticks, coconut shells, newspapers, nut shells, leaves, branches, bottles, and more. The artworks ranged from wall hangings and decorative items like vases to a model of a city.
Legal Aid Visit to Jamiyatpura
The Legal Aid Clinic of the Institute of Law, Nirma University organised a field visit to the village of Jamiyatpura on Oct 5, 2024. The purpose of this visit was to spread awareness and information about topics such as cyber awareness, good touch-bad touch, awareness about women’s rights, etc. The objective of the event was to help students understand and interact with the village panchayat and the Talati, and to understand the complexity of the working process in the village.
Heritage Sites Visit
First year students of the Institute of Architecture and Planning undertook an educational trip to the World Heritage sites of Modhera Sun Temple and Rani Ki Vav, followed by a visit to Patola Heriatge House Museum showcasing the art of Patan Patola weaving on Oct 12, 2024. This visit aimed to enhance students’ practical skills in sketching, observation, and perception while understanding the rich architecture of Gujarat.
Visit to Jeevan Sandhya Old Age Home
Close to forty volunteers from the Institute of Management visited Jeevan Sandhya Old Age Home, Ahmedabad on Oct 20, 2024. The day started with cheerful interactions, followed by cricket, musical chairs, and a ring toss that brought smiles to everyone’s faces. The volunteers delighted residents with dance performances, nostalgic songs, a lively Bollywood quiz, and a spirited garba session. The day concluded with a heartfelt meal, and gift distribution, leaving everyone with cherished memories and blessings.
Diwali Celebration
Volunteers from the International Society of Automation Students’ Chapter, Nirma University celebrated the festival of Diwali with specially-abled children of Prakash School, Ahmedabad on Oct 24, 2024. ISA members volunteered their time and efforts, starting the evening with a dinner service for the children, followed by engaging interactions and quality time, which fostered a sense of inclusion and celebration. They also organised fireworks display as part of the festivities.
Blood Donation Camp
A Blood Donation Camp was held on Nov 14, 2024 under the aegis of the Students’ Welfare Board in collaboration with the Civil Engineering students, Spandan – the social club of the Institute of Management, the NSS Unit of Nirma University, and Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad. A total of 205 units of blood was collected.
Visit to Gujarat High Court
The Lawyers Incubation Clinic at the Institute of Law organised a visit to the Gujarat High Court on Nov 19, 2024. A team of 15 students, under the guidance of Advocate Kashyap Joshi, participated in this initiative aimed at offering practical insights into judicial processes and litigation. The students observed proceedings in specialised courtrooms, including Family Court and the Service Court.
NSS Residential Camp
A 7-Day NSS Residential Camp was organised at Devpura village, Mehsana by the NSS Unit of the Institute of Pharmacy during Dec 10-16, 2024. Several activities including health check-up, tree plantation drive, road-safety awareness drive, sanitary pad distribution and menstrual hygiene drive, voter awareness drive, population growth awareness drive, street play for anti-drug and anti-alcohol awareness, a drawing competition for the students of the village school, and a yoga session, were carried out by the volunteers as a part of the camp.
Other Activities
The NSS Unit of the Institute of Law visited Muskaan School, Ghatlodiya, Ahmedabad on Nov 23, 2024. During their visit, the volunteers interacted with the students and shared thoughtful insights on Career goals, besides engaging in fun activities like playing games, singing, and dancing.
