Workshop on Understanding New NAAC Reforms

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Nirma University, organised a workshop on ‘Understanding New NAAC Reforms and Guidance for Preparation of the 4th NAAC Cycle as per the Revised NAAC Framework’ on April 13, 2026. Prof Vishnukant S Chatpalli, Senior Consultant, NAAC and Former Vice Chancellor, Karnataka State Rural Development & Panchayat Raj University, Karnataka, was invited as an expert. The workshop was attended by university officials, Heads of institutes, and institute IQAC coordinators.

National Academic Immersion Programme

The Institute of Management organised a National Academic Immersion Programme (NAIP) for 53 students of MIT World Peace University, Pune from April 28 to May 8, 2026. Students were imparted with contemporary knowledge on domains like finance, marketing, human resources, operations, and digitalization by the faculty members of the Institute of Management.

IEEE Carnival 2026

The Computer Science and Engineering Department, Institute of Technology organised IEEE Carnival from April 3-5, 2026 at Nirma University. The carnival featured sessions under IEEE SIGHT, IEEE ITSS, IEEE CS and IEEE SPS, covering themes such as photonic sensors for humanitarian solutions, intelligent mobility, agentic AI, research automation, swarm intelligence and multi-agent systems. The sessions were conducted by Dr Ajay Vyas, Associate Professor, Adani University, and Chair, HTA, IEEE Gujarat Section (SIGHT); Dr Maryam Kaveshgar, Global Vice President (Membership), IEEE ITSS (ITSS); Mr Anavart Pandya, Founder, Phlexibit (CS); and Dr Nikunj Tahilramani, HoD, Narnarayan Shastri Institute of Forensic Science and Cyber Security.

Faculty Induction Programme

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Nirma University, organised a month-long Faculty Induction Programme from June 1 to 29, 2026. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Anasuya Bhadalkar, Joint Director, Research & Development, Gujarat State Biotechnology Mission (GSBTM), Department of Science and Technology, Government of Gujarat. The programme covered topics including Indian Higher Education, Academic Leadership, Philosophy of Education and Student Engagement Pedagogies, Education for Sustainable Development, Curriculum Design, Presentation Skills, Nurturing Creativity, Social Media and Education, Performance Planning, Stress Management, and Workplace and Classroom Etiquette. More than 40 eminent resource persons from institutions such as Centre for Environment Education, IIT Gandhinagar, IIM Ahmedabad, Adani University, NITTTR-Bhopal and MICA, along with senior faculty members of Nirma University, contributed to the programme through lectures, hands-on exercises, case studies, discussions and experience sharing.

Workshop on Begin with ROS2 

The Centre for Robotics & Automation (CRA), Institute of Technology, conducted a five-day, 20-hour hands-on workshop titled ‘Begin with ROS2’, organised by the Centre for Continuing Education, Nirma University from June 22-26, 2026. The workshop conducted by Dr Mihir Chauhan from Mechanical Engineering Department, Institute of Technology was designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of the Robot Operating System 2 (ROS2), the leading open-source software framework used in modern robotics research and industrial automation. A total of 15 participants attended the programme, including 10 students from Nirma University and 5 students from other institutes.

Celebration of Important Days

National Fire Service Week  

In observance of National Fire Service Week 2026 (April 14-20), themed ‘Safe School, Safe Hospital & Fire Safety Aware Society – Together for Fire Prevention’, Nirma University conducted a Fire Safety Drill on April 17, 2026. The drill was led by the District Fire Officer (DFO) and his team from the Ahmedabad Fire Department. The exercise saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty, staff, university officials, and NSS volunteers of BBA, Institute of Management. Live demonstrations of fire tenders, robotic firefighting equipment, Gajraj, and other safety tools were carried out. The team also explained key fire safety protocols, evacuation procedures, and emergency response strategies. The initiative aimed to enhance awareness and preparedness among the university community, equipping them to respond effectively during fire emergencies.

 

World No Tobacco Day

As part of the observance of World No Tobacco Day, marked annually on May 31, the Institute of Pharmacy organised a Poster Making Competition on May 29, 2026 to promote awareness about a tobacco-free and healthier future. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 70 students, who showcased their creativity and social awareness through impactful posters conveying anti-tobacco messages.

 

 

World Bicycle Day

Nirma University celebrated World Bicycle Day on June 3, 2026, under the Fit India initiative by organising a bicycle rally on the university campus. The rally was flagged off by Dr R N Patel, Director General (I/c), Nirma University, and aimed to promote fitness, wellness, an active lifestyle, and cycling as a healthy and environment-friendly mode of transportation. Approximately 90 faculty and staff members participated in the event.

 

World Environment Day 

Nirma University celebrated World Environment Day on June 5, 2026, under the Mission LiFE initiative, in compliance with the University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines. The celebration was centred on the theme ‘Climate Change’ and jointly organised by the National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit, School of Technology; the Organisation of Civil Engineering Students (OrCES) Club; the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Student Chapter; Nirma Volunteaching Movement (NVM); and the Students’ Welfare Board. The activities included a tree plantation drive, an online poster-making competition on ‘Environmental Problems and Innovative Solutions’, and an online environment awareness quiz to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices among students. A total of 128 faculty, staff and students took part in these activities.

 

 

International Yoga Day 

Nirma University marked the 12th International Yoga Day with great zeal and participation across the campus, embracing this year’s global theme, ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing.’ The theme highlights how yoga supports individuals to stay active, independent, and mentally resilient as they grow older. The event, conducted on June 21, 2026 witnessed active involvement from over 400 participants, including university officials, students, faculty and staff members, all gathered to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through the ancient practice of Yoga. Team of Yoga experts comprising Mr Vijay Pathak, Mr Ankush Sharma and Ms Jyoti Patel conducted the session. Under their guidance, participants engaged in a well-structured sequence of asanas and pranayama, aligned with the Common Yoga Protocol recommended by the Ministry of AYUSH.

Short Term Training Programmes

Short-Term Training Programme on Digital Media Tools

The Institute of Design organised a Short-Term Training Programme (STTP) from June 15 to 25, 2026, with the participation of 18 faculty and technical staff members. The programme aimed to strengthen participants’ digital competencies and equip them with industry-relevant skills in graphic design, publication, video production and multimedia communication using the latest Adobe Creative Suite applications. The programme focused on continuous professional development and the effective integration of digital media tools into teaching, research, publications and institutional outreach. Mr Gopal Limbad, Graphics & Publication Designer, and Mr Pallav Baruah, Video Editing & VFX Designer, served as resource persons.

 

 

 

Staff Training Programme on ICT Tools for Work Efficiency and Life Skills for Enhanced Work Performance 

The Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Nirma University, in collaboration with the NITTTR Bhopal, organised a Staff Training Programme on ICT Tools for Work Efficiency and Life Skills for Enhanced Work Performance for non-teaching staff members from June 8-12, 2026. A total of 40 staff members participated in the programme. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Rajesh N Patel, Director General (I/c), Nirma University, and Dr Nishith Dubey, Professor and State Coordinator, Gujarat Extension Centre, NITTTR Ahmedabad. The sessions covered Windows features and settings, advanced features of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint, various Google applications, and AI prompts, with a focus on enhancing work efficiency and performance.

Management Development Programme on Finance for Non-Finance for Directors  

The Institute of Management organised a Management Development Programme (MDP) on ‘Finance for Non-Finance for Directors’ for senior management officials of Simpolo Vitrified Private Limited from June 26 to 27, 2026. The programme was attended by 25 participants. The MDP covered key areas of financial statement analysis and financial decision-making to support effective business strategy development. The sessions were conducted by Dr Amola Bhatt and Dr Lalit Arora, faculty members specialising in finance.

 

Student Development and Enrichment Activities

Expert Lecture Series on Construction Management

The Civil Engineering Department organised an Expert Lecture Series featuring international academicians to provide students with insights into construction management. Dr Abid Hasan, Senior Lecturer, Deakin University, Australia, conducted sessions on Construction Safety Management on March 30, 2026, and Project Stakeholder Management on April 10, 2026. Dr Amarjeet Singh, Professor, University of Hawaii, USA, conducted sessions on Construction Project Risk Management on April 1 and April 7, 2026. Dr. Makrand Hastak, Professor, Purdue University, USA, delivered a session on Profitability and Risk Management for Construction Companies on April 8, 2026. The sessions provided students with industry-oriented knowledge and enhanced their understanding of key aspects of construction engineering and management.

Flow Cytometer Training Session 

A training session on ‘Flow Cytometry: Basics, Training & Trouble-shooting’ was conducted by Dr Shiv Kumar Tripathi, Scientist II, Field Application, South Asia, Thermo Fisher Scientific on April 6, 2026, for MSc and PhD students from the Institute of Science & the Institute of Pharmacy.

 

Cultural Clause 2026

The Institute of Law celebrated its Annual Cultural Festival titled ‘The Cultural Clause 2026’ from April 10-12, 2026.  The event showcased diverse forms of expression, ranging from theatre, dance and music to dynamic artistic performance.

 

MBA Induction Programme 2026 

The Institute of Management organised Induction Programme for the incoming Batch of 2026-28 across its MBA, Integrated BTech (CSE)-MBA, MBA (HRM), MBA (FB&E) and Integrated BBA-MBA programmes from June 22-28, 2026. The week-long programme familiarised students with the Institute’s academic processes, learning pedagogy, faculty, campus facilities, student activities, placements and support services.

The academic session for the Batch of 2026-28 was inaugurated on June 29, 2026, through two inaugural sessions. Shri Mukesh Kumar, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Higher & Technical Education Department, Government of Gujarat, addressed the MBA and Integrated BTech (CSE)-MBA students in the presence of Shri Bhavin Mehta, Managing Director, Constera Realty Pvt Ltd, and other Nirma University officials. Shri Pankaj Kumar Gupta, Chief Executive Officer, ITUAL, an IL&FS entity, addressed the MBA (HRM), MBA (FB&E) and Integrated BBA-MBA students, highlighting the importance of a positive attitude, continuous learning, adaptability, customer-centricity and value creation.

Sports and Adventure Camps

Adventure Camps

The university organised a nine-day adventure camp from May 24 to June 1, 2026, covering Mussoorie, Rishikesh, Chopta and Haridwar. The camp was attended by 39 students, both male and female, representing various institutes of Nirma University. The camp offered students an enriching blend of adventure, cultural exposure, environmental awareness, teamwork and experiential learning.

 

 

The university further organised the Leh-Ladakh adventure camp from June 6-18, 2026, covering Manali, Jispa, Leh, Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, Kargil, Srinagar, and Jammu, with the participation of 32 students. The expedition covered approximately 2,500 kilometres through the Himalayan region, providing students with an opportunity to experience adventure, high-altitude travel and the rich cultural heritage of northern India.

 

Field Visits

Visit to Stivaph Healthcare Pvt Ltd

An industrial visit was organised for MPharm Semester II students to Stivaph Healthcare Pvt Ltd on April 20, 2026, aimed at providing practical exposure to pharmaceutical manufacturing operations. During the visit, students observed real-time industrial processes and gained insights into various plant operations.

 

 

Visit to France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland

An international visit was organised for the second year MBA (FB&E) students of the Institute of Management from April 21 to May 7, 2026. From Fragonard Perfumes in Paris and Ateliers des Gobelins to the European Parliament in Brussels, students witnessed how heritage, policy, and business come together. Visits to the Port of Rotterdam, Royal Coster Diamonds, Thyssenkrupp, and Mercedes Benz gave the students practical insights into global supply chains, family business legacy, and advanced manufacturing. Interactions at the European Central Bank, along with visits to BMW Welt, Spaten Brewery, and the Lindt Chocolate Factory, helped the students understand finance, engineering excellence, branding, and customer experience in a global setting.

 

 

Domestic Industry Exposure

The Institute of Management organised a domestic industry visit for second year MBA (FB&E) students from April 20 to May 3, 2026, covering Coimbatore, Ooty, Mysore, Bangalore and Pune. The visit provided students with exposure to diverse industrial and cultural environments, enabling them to explore 14 industries across multiple sectors.

The industry visits included Deccan Pumps Pvt Ltd., Barani Hydraulics India Pvt Ltd., Tea Factory and Chocolate Factory, Nandini Dairy, CFTRI, Mysore Silk Factory, Banana Club, BHEL, MD Private Limited, NU Life Pharmaceuticals, ICAR-NRCG, Adient Pvt Ltd., Parle-G and Hindustan Media, among others. The visit provided valuable insights into organisational operations, industry practices and management dynamics.

  • Mr Arvind Datar, Senior Advocate, Supreme Court of India, delivered a Public Lecture on ‘Our Constitution and Shades of Federalism’ at the Institute of Law on April 4, 2026.

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • CA Amit Jain (CFO – International Markets, Zydus Lifesciences Ltd) and CA Vikash Jain (Co-founder, Sunrise India Growth Fund & Partner/Advisor, VCAN & Resolve LLP) delivered an expert talk on ‘Market Minds: Decode, Decide and Dominate’ at the Institute of Law on April 7, 2026.
  • Dr Kailash Parmar, Director, Pharmace Research Laboratory Pvt Ltd, Ahmedabad conducted a session on ‘Role of Organic Chemistry in Pharmaceutical Industry’ at the Institute of Pharmacy on April 9, 2026.

 

 

 

 

  • Prof Amarjit Singh, Professor at University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa conducted a session on ‘Environmental Regulation and Infrastructure Disputes: A Case Study of Secondary Wastewater Treatment’ at the Institute of Law on April 17, 2026. The objective of the session was to create awareness of the changing relationship between infrastructure law and environmental control among the students through a case-based approach.

 

 

 

  • Ms Sudha Shah, Founder, Synergize Skill, Ahmedabad, conducted a session on ‘Stress Management for Enhancing Academic Performance and Well-being’ at the Institute of Pharmacy on May 1, 2026. Ms Shah shared practical strategies for stress management through the ABC model – Awareness, Balance, and Control.

 

 

 

 

 

  • Ms Shenaz Gandhi, Assistant Vice President-Head HR, Fuji Silvertech and Mr Nagendra Sastry, Partner, Proclink conducted a session on ‘New Age Leaders: Competencies, Mindset and Expectations’ at the Institute of Management on June 25, 2026. The experts shared insights on the competencies, mindset, adaptability, integrity, effective communication, and continuous learning required to succeed in today’s dynamic business environment.
