Conference on International Humanitarian Law and Refugee Law
The Institute of Law organised the XIII Edition Students’ Conference on International Humanitarian Law and Refugee Law on April 11, 2025. The event was graced by Dr Manoj Kumar Sinha (Vice Chancellor, Dharmashastra National Law University and President of the Indian Society of International Law), Dr Mehraj Uddin Mir (Former Vice Chancellor, Central University of Kashmir), along with distinguished dignitaries such as Dr Bhavesh H Bharad (Professor, Gujarat University), Dr Vikas Gandhi (Professor, Gujarat National Law University), and Dr Madhuri Parikh (Director and Dean, Institute of Law, Nirma University), among others. The conference aimed to promote meaningful discourse around the limitations of current international humanitarian and refugee law.
International Conference on Law and Governance
The Institute of Law organised an International Conference on Law and Governance (virtually) on April 12- 13, 2025. Hon’ble Justice Biren A. Vaishnav was the Chief Guest. Forty-two research papers were selected for presentation after a thorough review process. The selected papers showcased the depth of legal scholarship and contributed to enriching the thematic discourse.
Workshop on Hot-Stage Microscopy
The Department of Pharmaceutics, Institute of Pharmacy, in collaboration with Hexon Instrument, Navi Mumbai organised a scientific workshop and hands-on training session on Hot-Stage Microscopy on April 9, 2025. Conducted by Mr Gyanesh Singh, Technical Expert from Hexon Instrument, the workshop was attended by 42 postgraduate and doctoral research scholars. The session featured an insightful lecture on the principles, operation, and applications of Hot-Stage Microscopy, followed by a live demonstration where thermal analyses were performed on student-provided samples.
All Gujarat Automation Engineers’ Meet
The Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, Institute of Technology hosted the All Gujarat Automation Engineers’ Meet (AGAEM’25) on April 5, 2025. Organised under the aegis of the ISA Students’ Chapter, this flagship event united academia and industry on a single platform to promote innovation, collaboration, and excellence in automation and control engineering. The event commenced with a keynote lecture by Mr Jaimin Desai, Former Deputy Director at ISRO’s Space Applications Centre, who shared insights on the role of automation in India’s space missions and the importance of interdisciplinary thinking. A key highlight of the event was the Ideathon, a high-energy competition in which student teams tackled real-world challenges through automation solutions. With 100+ participants from premier institutes across Gujarat, the event featured breakthrough ideas in AI, IoT, Industry 4.0, and smart systems.
Samanvaya
The Institute of Law hosted the third Annual Conclave on Corporate Laws and Finance ‘Samanvaya’ on May 1-2, 2025 on themes including Fintech and Financial Regulatory and Banking and Finance. Mr Praveen Trivedi, Executive Director, International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) was the Chief Guest on this occasion.
Symposium on Labour Law
The Institute of Law organised a symposium on ‘Labour Laws Related to Women Workers in Organised and Unorganised Sectors and Elimination of Child Labour’ on May 1, 2025. The symposium featured speakers, including Hon’ble Mr Justice B C Patel, former Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir, and Hon’ble Mr Justice P B Majmudar, former Judge of the High Court of Maharashtra. Also contributing to the discourse were Dr Madhuri Parikh (Dean and Director) and Dr Dharmang Baxi (Professor) at the Institute of Law, Nirma University.
Faculty Induction Training Programme
The Internal Quality Assurance Cell, Nirma University, organised a month-long Faculty Induction Programme during May 19 to June 17, 2025. The programme was inaugurated by Dr Rajnish Jain, Former Secretary, UGC & Professor & Dean (Management), Institute of Management Studies, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore. Dr Anup K Singh, Director General, Nirma University presided over the event.
This programme was conducted as a part of the university’s regular practice of facilitating faculty development to discuss techniques that can help the new teachers in developing skills for effective teaching-learning, improving their capabilities as a teacher and researcher. Some of the topics included, Indian Higher Education, Academic Leadership, Philosophy of Education & Student Engagement Pedagogies, Education for Sustainable Development, Being Effective, Curriculum Design in Higher Education, Presentation Skills, Nurturing Creativity, Social Media & Education, Performance Planning, Stress Management, Work Place & Classroom Etiquette. Around 45 eminent resource persons delivered the content through a combination of theory, hands-on exercises, case studies, stimulating discussions and experience sharing.
Workshop on Principles and Applications of Particle Size Analyser
The Institute of Pharmacy, in collaboration with the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation, Nirma University, hosted a workshop on ‘Principles and Applications of Particle Size Analyser.’ The session featured an expert lecture by Dr Namrata Jain, Senior Application Scientist, Horiba India Pvt Ltd, who also conducted a live demonstration of the Particle Size Analyser in action on June 4, 2025.
Celebration of Important Days
World Health Day 2025
The Institute of Pharmacy celebrated World Health Day 2025 by organising a free health check-up camp at Jivan Sandhya Old Age Home, on April 7, 2025 aligning with the theme ‘Mental Health and Lifestyle Modification.’ PharmD 3rd Year students, along with faculty members, provided a range of services including BMI measurement, blood pressure monitoring, blood oxygen and random blood sugar testing, mental health screening, and personalised wellness counselling. Over 140 elderly residents received not only medical care but also emotional support through meaningful interactions.
Earth Day
The Institute of Law celebrated Earth Day 2025 on April 22, 2025, through a series of impactful activities jointly organised by the Student Welfare Board and the Centre for Environmental Law. Observed under the global theme ‘Our Power, Our Planet’, the event aimed to raise awareness about climate responsibility and the need to accelerate the transition toward renewable energy by 2030. Some of the activities conducted included Nukkad Natak, a Clay Pottery Workshop led by Institute of Law alumna Ms Kritika Jaisawal, and a Tote Bag Painting Workshop.
Gujarat Sthapana Diwas
Gujarat Sthapana Divas was celebrated at the Institute of Law on May 1, 2025. The celebration featured a cultural programme as a tribute to Gujarat’s historical significance and growth.
World No Tobacco Day
On the occasion of World No Tobacco Day, the Institute of Pharmacy organised a Poster Making Competition on May 31, 2025 to raise awareness about the detrimental effects of tobacco use. The event featured enthusiastic participation from First-Year B.Pharm. students, who brought their creativity and concern for public health to life through visually compelling and thought-provoking posters.
World Environment Day
On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Institute of Management in association with the Students’ Welfare Board organised a Tree Plantation Drive on June 5, 2025 at the stadium lawn area in the presence of university officials, heads of institutes, and faculty members. The event was a celebration of collective responsibility toward a greener and more sustainable future.
International Yoga Day
The university marked the 11th International Yoga Day with great zeal and participation across the campus, embracing this year’s global theme, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health.’ The event, conducted on June 21, 2025 witnessed active involvement from 566 participants, including university officials, students, faculty and staff members, all gathered to promote physical, mental, and spiritual well-being through the ancient practice of Yoga.
Renowned Yoga expert Shri Vijay Pathak and his team conducted the session. Under his guidance, participants engaged in a well-structured sequence of asanas and pranayama, aligned with the Common Yoga Protocol recommended by the Ministry of AYUSH.
Short Term Training Programmes
STTP on Research Frontiers in Thermal and Fluid Systems
A two-week STTP on ‘Research frontiers in thermal and fluid systems’ was organised from June 16 – 27, 2025 by the School of Engineering, Institute of Technology, Nirma University for its faculty members. Experts from premier institutes of India, R&D organisations and industry experts delivered lectures along with hands-on sessions on use of various software. Industry-visit was also organised as a part of the programme.
STTP on Current Practices in Design and Detailing of Steel Structures
The Department of Engineering, Institute of Technology, Nirma University, in collaboration with the Institute for Steel Development & Growth (INSDAG), Kolkata conducted a STTP on ‘Current Practices in Design and Detailing of Steel Structures’ from June 16 – 20, 2025. The programme featured expert-led sessions on a comprehensive range of topics, including column and plate buckling, cold-formed steel design, industrial steel structures, pre-engineered building (PEB) systems, seismic design considerations, connection detailing, and non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques.
Student Development and Enrichment Activities
Orientation for MBA Programmes
Orientation for various MBA programmes at the Institute of Management was held from June 19 – 26, 2025. The formal Inaugural Ceremony was held on June 26, 2025 with Mr Sudhir Sharma, Head – Talent Acquisition, Adani Group and Mr Sanjay Kumar Verma (Director – HRBP Global HR, Johnson Controls Hitachi) as Chief Guests for different programmes. They emphasised on resilience, adaptability, and problem-solving capability among the MBA students.
Mentoring Programme for Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship
The Mentoring Programme for 2026-27 Fulbright-Nehru Fellowship Applicants was organised at Nirma University by the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF) on April 5, 2025. The main objective of the programme was to provide information on the various types of fellowships and the application processes. Dr Ryan Pereira, Regional officer of USIEF Mumbai, shared an overview regarding the USIEF with the participants.
Abstracthon 2025
The UG Research Council, Institute of Pharmacy organised Abstracthon 2025, an initiative aimed at fostering scientific thinking and academic writing skills among undergraduate pharmacy students on April 9, 2025. Participants engaged in analysing scientific manuscripts and translating their understanding into well-crafted abstracts, a vital skill in their research journey.
Model United Nations
The Institute of Law organised the fourth edition of its Model United Nations Conference, ILNU MUN Chapter Four, on April 5–6, 2025. The event was inaugurated with Ambassador Ashok Sajjanhar, IFS (Retd), President, Institute of Global Studies, New Delhi as the Chief Guest and Prof Sanjay Kumar Pandey, Professor, Centre for Russian & Central Asian Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, as the Guest of Honour. Shri KK Patel, Vice President, Nirma University, presided over the event, and Dr Anup K Singh, Director General, Nirma University, graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Over two days, delegates participated in debates across six committees, including a specially designed high-intensity Crisis Committee for experienced participants. The conference included discussions, collaborations, and problem-solving exercises, reflecting the objectives of the MUN platform.
ILNU Round Robin 3.0
The Debate Society of the Institute of Law organised Round Robin 3.0 on April 5-6, 2025. The tournament brought together top-tier debaters from across India for a highly competitive and intellectually enriching experience. Sixteen teams were selected by the Core Adjudication Panel to be a part of this event.
Sports and Adventure Camps
Manali – Bhrigu Lake Adventure Camp 2025
As part of its yearly adventure camps, Nirma University organised the Manali-Bhrigu Lake Adventure Camp from May 31 to June 9, 2025. Thirteen students from Nirma University took part in this unforgettable journey. The camp offered a rich blend of adventure, culture, and personal growth. The highlight of the camp was a three-day high-altitude trek to the majestic Bhrigu Lake, situated at 14,300 feet above sea level.
Spiti Valley Expedition 2025
The Spiti Valley Expedition was conducted for students from June 1 – 12, 2025. A total of 43 students participated in the expedition, which offered a remarkable blend of adventure, cultural immersion, and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes.
Field Visits
Industrial Visit to Aculife Healthcare Pvt Ltd
The Institute of Pharmacy organised an industrial visit for BPharm Semester VI students to Aculife Healthcare Pvt Ltd on April 8, 2025. A total of 85 students actively participated in this insightful and educational visit. During the visit, students toured various sections of the healthcare manufacturing plant and engaged in an interactive Q&A session with professionals from multiple departments. These interactions offered students first-hand exposure to the pharmaceutical industry’s operational practices, enhancing their understanding of real-world industrial processes.
Industrial Visit to Sundyota Numandis Research & Formulations Pvt Ltd
The M.Pharm. Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Analysis students of the Institute of Pharmacy visited Sundyota Numandis Research & Formulations Pvt Ltd on May 14-15, 2025. This industry visit provided an invaluable platform for students to explore advanced formulation and analytical processes, gain first-hand insights through a guided plant tour, interact with seasoned industry professionals, and get their technical queries answered directly by the experts.
